Professor Rakesh Kumar Bhatt, currently serving as Senior Professor of the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Delhi, has had a distinguished academic career. Prior to joining the Department in 1998, he served as Assistant Librarian at IIT Delhi for over seven years. As a renowned academician, prolific writer, and exceptional orator, Prof. Bhatt has earned dual Ph.D.s and has been recognized for his subject expertise. He has authored 12 books, edited 13 volumes, and published over 190 research papers and articles in peer-reviewed international journals, editorial books, conference proceedings, and other publications. Prof. Bhatt served as the Editor of the Journal of Library and Information Science, published by the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Delhi, for three years during his tenure as Head of Department. Additionally, he has delivered over 130 invited talks, keynote addresses, and lectures, and has chaired numerous conference sessions at national and international conferences. He has also held prominent positions in board of studies, curriculum development committees, UGC-NET workshops, and selection committees. Prof. Bhatt has supervised 12 Ph.D.s, 25 M.Phil. dissertations, and over 180 MLISc projects. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of Library and Information Science, Prof. Bhatt has received several awards, including the Special Library Association (SLA-Asian Chapter) Best Teacher Award (2019), the SPL Best Library Teacher Award (2019), and the DLA-Shanta Vashishth Outstanding Leadership Library Award (2020). Currently, he serves as the Editor of Library Herald, a prestigious scholarly journal published by the Delhi Library Association.
